Whatsapp not for Rumours

Whatsapp / Social Media is great for sharing useful information not for RUMOURS

Misuse of WHATSAPP is a challange

Whatsapp not for Rumours
Do you agree?
Use the internet technology with positive energy that will help all concerned people.
Blindly forwarding or sharing without knowing the source of information is not a good idea.

WhatsApp will limit forwards to only Five chats in India!

Globally, users will be able to forward a text to 20 chats. Forward fever needs to be curbed. Unlike Facebook group, unfortunately Whatsapp Admin do not have much control. Hope users in India will observe self control.

The Indian government has said WhatsApp users forwarding fake news to big groups of people led to a spate of lynchings.

WhatsApp will also bring a fake news verification model it recently used in Mexican general elections to India.

Read more at:
Economic Times

The Facebook-owned Whatsapp has changed to flag FORWARDED messages, which makes it clear when information is coming from another source. But WhatsApp's security features means the company cannot simply monitor messages for hoaxes.

What is PYMK algorithm - How and Why Facebook says People You May Know

How does facebook know who to recommend, who you might know, even if you have not met them?

Answer is simple, you only gave contacts to Facebook!

Mobile to Mobile
If both friends add the same school or college in the education tab, then they will be shown, as you may know on each other.  Or if you have a large number of mutual friends then Facebook guesses that you people might know each other! Clever logic isn't it?
    People You May Know
You have synchronised your phone address book to Facebook. It’s part of the permissions you allow it while installing the Facebook App, on your smartphone. So, if you saved a Courier or a random vendor's number there, Facebook will consider as PYMK - and his name will soon appear as a recommendationPeople You May Know.

Another way Facebook finds your possible friend is based on Camera metadata. If two people posts pictures that seem to be similar, for example, they could be friends of friends. Or, if the pictures have lens scratches, or dust in the same spots, they must have been shot with the same camera. Facebook robot thinks you may know the other photographer.  For instance, all the people a wedding photographer has shot (with the same lens) will start showing up in one another’s friend recommendations - P Y M K - People You May Know!

This Facebook feature is not new, actually TEN  Years old technology that helps you find a lost friend. However, I have a another kind of challenge that is, I have reached limit of 5000 Friends.  So unless I UN-Friend someone, I cannot add, even if I want to. I have to remove some sleeping friend to add more active friend.  Anyways, I have created a Facebook Public Figure Page, where there is no limit of FANS who LIKE my Page.

Facebook uses the latest Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, predictive analysis, and Big Data for the PYMK.

WHY?
Facebook is a # 1 digital marketing company in the world!  It is in Facebook interest to have people connected so they can sell market research, demographic data, and cater to you as an individual. Targeted advertisements are the main source of revenue.  So it makes sense Facebook robot will do anything,  to build people's connections.

FaceBook does not purposely intend to injure anybody with their recommendations. It is up to you to add Friend or not.

False and morally reprehensible Google searches helped shape opinions

I was just looking back at 2016 and realised the Social Media changed everything

Jyotindra Zaveri for Social Media Marketing in 2017

Use (and misuse) of Facebook, Instagram, etc. increased.

Many people don’t think of Google as social media, but Google’s algorithm, from YouTube, to Gmail, to Docs, are among the most impactful ways we communicate on the internet.

It is an algorithm-driven search engine and is the main way we receive information on the internet.  To some extent, even Facebook search has also helped making opinions.

Looking forward to the New Year 2017 that will bring even more exciting internet technologies.

Social media marketing for business is a journey not a destination

Building your brand is an ongoing process and not one time activity.

It is clear social media marketing is delivering real and measurable business value for startup companies, small or medium size organizations.

Entrepreneurs know they must not only learn, but also use social media as a way to connect, inspire, and serve their new online audiences as well as current, prospective, and future customers.

I am doing an interesting Webinar on How successful small and medium companies use social media innovatively for driving marketing and sales.

Learn at the convenience of your home or office.
WHEN? To find out, join me on Thursday, 17 November at 7:45 p.m.

Fees: ₹900/- per person.
Early Bird:
₹700/- if paid on or before 09 November 2016.

Send connect request well in advance Skype id jyotindra.z

However, social marketers must also have a solid understanding of business and marketing. Smart social media marketers also know how to align social media to business goals. Building a career as a social marketer is not as easy as jumping on Twitter posting some 140 character tweets and selfie snaps.

Unfortunately, many businesspersons jump into the fields of social networks, tweets, blogs, and Facebook live video to find themselves overwhelmed. Let us discuss tools and tricks to do effective social media marketing. Register today.

Many entrepreneurs start out excited only to find their hopes of a career in social media completely deflated. Not only do they feel overwhelmed but also they find it hard to show and prove their value. They lack the necessary training to understand data and measurement, conversion funnels, content marketing, SEO, SMO, and digital marketing skills and the list goes on. It is even more challenging for startups that lack solid business or marketing experience in the real world. I have 40+ years business experience and will share many tips for effective social media marketing.

What you need is a mentor who has hands-on experience, and not copy-paste skill.

Many professionals have taken out time to attend my previous training sessions. I have received several encouraging feedback.

The truth is that social media is neither a Band-Aid nor a quick fix. You need to learn SEO and SMO. Hiring a cheap trainee who knows how to tweet, post on facebook, and stream a live video is not going to fix your brand perception problems. Armatures will not inspire your customers to engage in a relationship with you. Person new to social media is not going to help you. Invest some time and money to learn new technologies.

Website http://jyotisocial.net/social-media-library/

You must know how to push change when needed and integrate social media technologies and best practices into the business, not force it. We are all learning and the only guarantee we have is change. I know it is not easy but who said branding is easy? Do you know you can embed a Facebook Event Page in a Blog (or website)?  Here is an illustrative example:-

Is WhatsApp sharing Mobile number with Facebook?

This post is regarding WhatsApp and sharing of Mobile number with Facebook, with your permission, of course!

Users were happy to use it free.  Now we know the reason.

Here is a note by Jyotindra Zaveri based on various blogs by Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.

Facebook acquired WhatsApp in February 2014. And kept free of charge.
WhatsApp sharing Mobile number with Facebook 1984
"In a time of Universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act"
1. WhatsApp has announced that it will start sharing your phone number with its parent company Facebook.
2. As stated by WhatsApp in its recent blog post, it is sharing your phone number with Facebook to “improve your Facebook ads and products experiences.”  It implies that you will start receiving more relevant ads on Facebook and get better friend suggestions. Which I think is good.
3. The Privacy Policy also states “By coordinating more with Facebook, we’ll be able to do things like track data about how often people use our services and better fight spam on WhatsApp.” This could mean that data such as your mobile’s Operating System, mobile country code, carrier code, screen resolution, and device identifier will also be shared.
4. Your number will be shared with Instagram (also a Facebook company).
5. FAQ: can you prevent WhatsApp from sharing your mobile number with Facebook?
Answer by Jyotindra ZaveriYES you can.
You might have agreed already, if so, you can slide the green button as shown below (here is the catch, within thirty days):

Uncheck the green box
Unchecking means that you do not want WhatsApp to share your number and other data for Facebook advertisements and product-related purposes. Tap on ‘Agree‘.
Additional note:
If you have already agreed to the new terms and conditions, you still have 30-days to reverse your decision.
Open WhatsApp > go to Settings > Account > Uncheck the box given against “Share my account info…”
If you do not see this option under Settings > Account, there’s no need to panic. It means that you haven’t updated to the latest version or you are yet to receive the notification about the new terms and conditions.
6. The secret is that the above “opt-out” procedure is partial.
This only prevents WhatsApp from sharing your data for Facebook ads and product-related purposes.
However, your data will still be shared for other purposes which the company puts as “improving infrastructure and delivery systems, understanding how our services or theirs are used, securing systems, and fighting spam, abuse, or infringement activities”.
7.  Good part is that the data-sharing update does not affect your communication on WhatsApp (messages, photos, videos, voice messages, and calls) which continue to be encrypted. This means that they can only be viewed by you and the person you are sending them to.
8. Super secret is:  Users who have agreed to the new terms and conditions still have 30-days to express their disagreement.  After 30 days, once this window expires, they won’t be able to opt out.
9. WhatsApp hasn’t provided a comprehensive list of the types of user data it intends to share with Facebook nor anything about how Facebook will be using this data.
10. Finally:  Don't worry too much, like it or not, with or without your permission; your personal information is already with most IT Giants.  Microsoft started the practice many years back (Remember Windows?), followed by Google, and now Facebook.  The whole technology is referred as BIG DATA. Yes, the database thus crested is a gold mine for advertisements, great revenue source for them.
So, what if you don’t have a Facebook account?  Your number will still be shared by Whatsapp with Facebook, even if you are not on Facebook. Even if Facebook has your number, it is great use to them. However, your number will not be used to create an account on your behalf.
Conclusion: Stay cool and might as well enjoy free services.  You and I cannot do about anything about IT (Pun?).
Read the book by George Orwell: Book title is 1984.  If you have read '1984' by George Orwell you will know all about 'Big Brother is watching you'!

Facebook Group - LinkedIn Group - Important guidelines - Social media groups - Online community

How to use and why to use Facebook Group - LinkedIn Group?

FAQ about social media groups and answers that will help you to use the online groups effectively.

Study these important points while joining online community to get maximum benefits and stay away from avoidable issues. Here are the best practices to help you become a valued group member.
Social media group explained by Jyoti
Groupology
Contributing as a Group Member - Best Practices:
  1. Make the most of your group by using the same manners you would use to interact at a social event or a friend's house.
  2. Make sure your conversations are relevant to the interests and purpose of the group.  Look at the Group Description (on the right side in the Facebook group) and ABOUT THIS GROUP as well as Group Rules (on right side of the LinkedIn group).
  3. Start or participate in conversations.  Do not be a passive audience. Engage with posts - Like and Comment will help you increase your own visibility (and credibility).  [Usually, people expect that "my post members should Like or Comment"  but did you do the same?  It is similar to everyone want to do batting only and not fielding.  Group will be vibrant only if all participants do the discussion.
  4. Invite discussion. Ask for members' input on a topic or article that you share and phrase your update as a question.  It is OK to disagree; if you find yourself disagreeing in a conversation, remember to keep the discussion respectful.
  5. I have created two kinds of groups: (1) Focused Groups:  Specific interest or topic or industry or profession group.  (2) Geographical groups:  Group members are stakeholders of a specific city (Country).  Here you can do self-promotion.  Use it to promote your products/services to your targeted city or community.
  6. About 80 % of your posts should add value to group members.  Show-off your expertise instead of always marketing (restrict advertisements to about 20%).  The usual mistake is that people only post their advertisements.
  7. How often one should post? Post need not be daily.  Four posts in a week are recommended
  8. Sharing other websites that could be useful to members is a good way to increase your visibility and credibility (as an individual).
  9. What is in it for marketers?  The idea is to pause as a thought leader!  If you're sharing a link or article, if possible provide context on its relevance to the group.
  10. What is in it for HR?  On LinkedIn, if you're sharing a job opening with a group, post it under the Jobs tab.
  11. Once you are a member, it is your group, so you can report spam (to admin) when you see it. Reporting spam helps everybody in the group, and it helps Admin/managers / Moderators to take appropriate action.
  12. When fellow group members or group management feel that certain contributions do not meet their group's objective, they can take actions like reporting or removing comments, or even removing and blocking you from a group.
  13. Use the Business Page to promote your business/company instead of groups.  Use a group to become an influencer in the society, as an individual, human, so it is not a good idea to post as a company.  Post in the group as a person.
  14. Groups are all about building relationships through the conversation about topics and ideas with two-way dialogue.
  15. Use groups to publish your ideas to reach a wider audience, beyond your own friends' circle, thereby reaching to more clients.
  16. Digital platforms offer a great opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge in a certain area to a broad audience with the purpose of promoting ideas, as opposed to promoting commercial services.
  17. Why Post?  Your posts are tied to your Facebook / LinkedIn identity and provide an effective way to stand out from the crowd while building your professional reputation.
